Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone are teaming up but once more for a brand new movie titled Bugonia, which has been acquired by Focus Options.
The announcement of Focus’ acquisition arrives as Lanthimos and Stone are on the Cannes Movie Competition to debut their newest launch, Kinds of Kindness. Bugonia will mark their fifth on-screen collaboration, following The Favorite, the quick movie Bleat, Poor Things (which received Stone the Academy Award for Greatest Actress), and Sorts of Kindness.
Along with Stone, Bugonia will see Lanthimos reunite with one other Sorts of Kindness star, Jesse Plemons. Plot-wise, the brand new film is predicated on the 2003 South Korean sci-fi movie, Save the Inexperienced Planet!, following conspiracy theorists who kidnap a CEO on the assumption that she’s an alien trying to destroy Earth.
Lanthimos is producing the movie, alongside Factor Photos, Sq. Peg’s Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen, Jerry Kyoungboum Ko of CJ ENM, and Stone herself, by way of her manufacturing firm Fruit Tree.
Bugonia is the second movie to be added to Focus’ roster at Cannes this week, together with Woody Harrleson’s upcoming launch Final Breath. Common Photos will distribute internationally (besides in South Korea). Beforehand, Lanthimos’ feature-lengths starring Stone arrived by way of Searchlight.
As for Sorts of Kindness, it’s set for launch on June twenty first, 2024.
